Abstract Art

could i major in art even though I do abstract art?

i do mostly abstract art, and sculptures that are a little bit left of center... i don't really do fine arts like detailed portraits or realistic looking paintings/sculptures. would that make a major in art difficult to pursue?

I agree with the first answer but would add another experience that is great for artistic development. Take classes in life drawing. There is nothing particularly sexy about it and as a potter and crafts-person I find that when I am rendering works involving the human body, ideas and lines just flow. I don't even know why it happens
