Where can I find...in Southern California?
I live between San Diego and Los Angeles and am having a hard time finding a ceramic/pottery place or shop to actually MAKE pottery. I have been taught to throw and sculpt for the past two years at school, but now I have no where to use my skills. There are hundreds of places to paint already made pottery, but where can I make my own?! Thanks : )
You probably can't unless you have a craft guild like the ones here in Dallas that allow people who have taken classes (to insure that they should know how to handle the equipment) to have "lab time"
In general, because there are a lot of people like you, places with equipment are overwhelmed with requests.
You will probably have to buy a wheel (check on CraigsList for your area for bargains where people have given up) and set up a "painting" area for glazes, then find a place that will fire your finished dry work - and even then they have to trust you because if your pieces explode in the kiln it can wreck other people's work.
