How to manage an orthodox family which is opposite my ideals of modernism?
Hello. I am a normal twenty first century girl and i like the current culture of my ciuntry. my family ( parents and granny) however disagree with all that rap and rock and my tastes, opinions and everything. so that, i cant even express my personal feelings that they dont wish to hear. they totally live in the 18th century and always bump into my business and tell me to stop it if they dont like. they are taking over my life!
i hate it. i am a person with my opinions and whatever fact i say is offensive to them. i dont even have my own bedroom where i ca get privacy. they peer if i m on any social networking site, always check on me and i am subject to many prohibitions.
i just cant cope with it.
how to manage this? do you go through the same? please suggest me something. i am so frustrated emotionally.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is brought up differently. Sometimes we stick with what we are taught, sometimes we don't. Just because you have opinions doesn't mean the other party has to agree with them or vice versa. Simply wait until you are older, and are out of the house. I can understand your frustrations, but think of it this way. They won't accept your lifestyle and you wont accept theirs, you don't want to fight about it so meet somewhere in the middle. Perhaps talk to them in a family meeting or with a pastor or counselor at school.
