How do i set a proper place setting if my knife and soup spoon is not needed?
I am having an informal Christmas dinner. The dinner I am serving will not have the need for a knife or a soup spoon. How do i set a proper place setting?
You should provide a knife, even if one is not nessesary. Watching people try to eat with only a fork is ridiculous, haha. Basically, since its informal, you don't need to make it fussy. Forks go on the left, knives on the right. If you're doing more than one course, or setting the table for the entire meal (instead of bringing out a fresh round of cutlery for each course) remember that you work your way in from the outside, so the dessert fork should be closest to the plate. Glassware goes on the right (above the knife) and if there is a side plate, it should go on the left.
