How long does it take for a rose bud to open?
Hi all, I've just started growing roses in large potted containers and 2 of the plants seem to have taken the transplan well and the buds look like they are growning. The problem is that the other 2 dont seem to be making any progress in their buds and im wondering how much time I should give them before I start to worry. I know that different rose plants grow at different paces, but on average how long should it take those unopened bud to grow before I have to start worrying about things like them having bugs or disease? Im in southern california and USUALLY we have a lot of sun, but the past week has been overcast and rainy so its slowing down their growth even more.
As long as the leaves stay green and they keep growing don't worry about the buds, they will bloom when they get ready. Cover the top of the planters with a mulch so that the ground around the roots stay moist but not too wet. They will take off and start blooming soon and the sun will come out here in southern California one of these days then we will wish it would get cloudy again.
