Staffordshire English

whats the difference between the irish staffordshire bull terrier and the english?
people say they are the same and some say they aren't so would they be pure breed if they were crossed
The irish staff is a pitbull really.
The irish staff is taller where as the english staffie usually isnt anymore than 15 inches at the shoulder.
I live in northern ireland and irish staffs are banned in the uk because they are known as a term for a pitbulls, using the term irish staff for selling pitbulls worked ok for a while but then the dog authorities catched on and banned this breed too.
