baking cookies on stoneware?
I have a package of choc. chip cookie mix and the directions say
8-11 minutes for shiny metal cookie sheet
7-9 minutes for nonstick cookie sheet
8-11 minutes insulated cookie sheet
so how long should i cook them if im using a stoneware cookie sheet/tray?and also i was given this by a friend of mine and she said you dont need to ever use cooking spray because its naturally nonstick.however its been washed in a dishwasher a few times and since then everything i makes sticks to it really bad.so can i use nonstick cooking spray on stoneware?thanks for any info on the cooking time or stoneware use!!
You are not supposed to wash the stoneware in the dishwasher. The stone gets 'seasoned' and the more you use it the better it cooks. I rinse mine off or quickly wash it occasionally, but the dish washer is DEFINITELY a no no. Since you have already used the dishwasher on it, it will probably take a few times cooking on it for it to re-season. I would use some cooking spray on it and hopefully that will work. Just don't put it in the dishwasher any more. That could cause it to crack and definitely is not good for the stone.
How to Clean
Hand wash Stoneware in clear, hot water; rinse and towel dry thoroughly before storing.
NOTE: As soap can flavor foods that are baked in Stoneware, it is important that you do not use soap or detergents to clean your Stoneware or wash in an automatic dishwasher using dishwasher detergent. Follow these steps for general and deep cleaning of Stoneware:
General Cleaning
Allow Stoneware to cool to room temperature before cleaning.
Soak Stoneware in clear, hot water to loosen baked-on foods.
Remove excess food on both glazed and unglazed surfaces using the Easy Clean® Kitchen Brush.
Rinse and towel dry thoroughly before storing.
Deep Cleaning
Prepare a baking soda paste by mixing 1/2 cup baking soda with 3 tablespoons water.
Apply baking soda paste to desired areas and let sit for 15-20 minutes. Scrape off excess paste using the Easy Clean Kitchen Brush.
Rinse and towel dry thoroughly before storing.
